Welcome to the Assiniboine Park Hockey Association (APHA) web site.

WELCOME TO BEAR COUNRTY! Every year, female hockey is growing.  To support this growth, our female hockey program is implementing major changes to promote and enhance the development of female hockey players in the Assiniboine Park Hockey Association area.  Changes that will be coming to the 2015/2016 season for the female hockey program include the following:

  • We have re-branded our female hockey program.  Starting this season, not including the AA program, all APHA female hockey teams will fall under the “Polar Bears” female hockey program.   This will be consistent through all female hockey programming in the APHA regardless of the community club that hosts a particular age group.  New jerseys will be ready for the 2015/2016 season – and they look amazing!  More to be announced in the coming months.
  • There will be improvements to the tryout evaluation process for all female players.  This evaluation will be similar to the male hockey program and will ensure consistency and standards for both APHA hockey programs.  The female tryout schedule is complete and will run from September 20th, 2015 to October 7th, 2015.  Please see the APHA website for the tryout schedule details.
  • As an ongoing process, we are working towards a greater emphasis on coaching and player development that will follow Hockey Canada’s guidelines for female hockey players that register to play hockey within the APHA.   A coach mentor will be assigned to the female program to support and ensure that coaches are following these guidelines.

In the future, we will be working on having more development camps throughout the year to be offered to APHA girls looking to improve their hockey skills.  The APHA website will provide these updates when available. The APHA comprises the following Community Clubs and the “AA” Rangers. The Rangers, and each of the Community Clubs have their own individual web sites.
